About the edition
For Glasgow International 2026, Lorna Robertson has created a drypoint etching in an edition of 12. This edition is co-publish by Glasgow International and Glasgow Print Studio, with proceeds directly supporting both organisations.
Robertson’s creative impulse is initially an abstract one, focusing on shapes and their placement and proportions. She began this print using the spit bite process, working directly with acid onto the etching plate. Trying to control and manipulate these puddles of acid invites a certain loss of control, which for the artist is important in her artistic process, to initiate accidents and chance. In the manner of a Rorschach test these marks suggest form leading to an intuitive space where relationships of tone and line are explored. Robertson’s concern is with pictorial harmony and tension and how regardless of whatever figurative tropes or imagery used ( head - jug- flowers) a mood is created through the language of drawing.
About the artist
Lorna Robertson was born in Ayr on the west coast of Scotland in 1967. She studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee and currently lives and works in Glasgow.
